SHERMAN SHELDON

 

Ask any musician in Victoria, BC, this question and you’ll learn that Sherm is a well-known master guitarist – he has honed his craft for over 40 years and is equally accomplished in rock, folk, classical, blues, country, and jazz.

 

Ask any of Sherm’s students and they will tell you he is an extraordinary teacher and mentor – so dedicated to music that he has written six books, covering guitar techniques for beginners, to those who want to play like “the greats.” 

 

For Sherm’s fans, the answer comes in the form of standing ovations from audiences who have experienced his heartfelt performances.

 

Sherm’s first CD, appropriately titled “Heartsongs,” was released October 2, 2009. Since then, he has released a 2^nd album “From out of the Blue,” and is currently working on a third. Sherm’s eclectic taste in musical genres is reflected in his music – as his fans put it:

"The variety of styles is wonderful and makes the album a joy to listen to; we put the CD in our car stereo on our last vacation and listened to it over and over without getting bored." 

 

More recently, Sherman has come into his own as a talented songwriter/composer with over 100 original songs written to date. 

 

“Angel Waiting for Her Wings” has a classical feel – starting with a background of violins and finishing with a choir of angels, the song is dedicated to the memory of Margie, a young woman killed on her honeymoon by a drunk driver.  “I’ll Move On”, an upbeat tempo tune, addresses the plight of a homeless man, shunned by society. Sherm rocks out in “Waste of Time” about the strong emotions of a failed relationship.

 

“Politician Blues” is a great rock-out satirical (and somewhat sarcastic) comment of Sherm’s frustration with current political verbosity. The song was not written with any specific political party in mind, or any one country in mind, or any particular politician in mind!
